According to Premier Marbella news sources, Marbella City Council has increased in the last year by 100% the number of homes with building permits. The Councilor for Territorial Planning and Housing, María Francisca Caracuel, presented a report on the management of her delegation and stressed that in the last year they have returned the normality, legality and urban security to the city. The Marbella City Council has increased by 100 percent the number of homes with higher building licenses approved between September 2017 and August 2018 with respect to the same period of the previous year and 30 percent lower.
The councilor pointed out that when her delegation arrived at the municipal government last year they found a city paralyzed under the impact of the annulment of the General Plan of Urban Planning (PGOU) of 2010, a situation in which the previous local executive did not have the capacity for reaction. Thus, she has maintained that from the first moment they began to work in a double aspect that included the day to day issues and the urban future of the city.
In relation to planning, she highlighted the different milestones that led to the approval, in September 2017, of the Revised Text of the PGOU of 1986; the modification of urban regulations, in May 2018; and the adaptation of the General Plan to the Law of Urban Development of Andalusia (LOUA), in July of this year. Thus advancing that the first procedures for the writing of the future PGOU of Marbella have already begun with the giving of accounts of the objective and general criteria of the future document last May.
As for day-to-day, she stated that between September 2017 and August 2018, 3,154 minor works licenses were granted with a material execution budget of 44.4 million euros. This is 30 percent more than in the same period of the previous year when 2,417 permits were approved with an amount of 38.7 million. With regard to the largest, in the last year licenses were approved for 528 homes, with a budget of 143.2 million euros, 100 percent more than the same period of the previous year, with 272 homes and an amount of 70 ,2 millions.
