Spanish property sales rise after a slowdown during Easter

According to Premier Marbella news sources, a recent report on the Spanish property market shows that Spanish property sales rose by 19.3% year-on-year in June to 44,135 units, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE). New build property has had a significant increase with 7,899 new homes sold, levels that were not seen since January 2015, which shows that the new construction has started to have a more relevant role in the sector. According to Premier Marbella news sources, there is renewed optimism in Marbella property market with data just released showing 2015 has seen record numbers for new building projects in the Malaga province. Planning approval in the third quarter was given for 922 new homes, a figure that has not been achieved since 2010. This year a total of 1,792 permits were approved, which is three times the amount for the same period in 2014. According to Premier Marbella news sources and a recent report published by the General Council of Notaries of Spain, 33,504 properties were sold in May, which would indicate that Spanish property sales are up 8.4% year on year, while the price of properties fell 2.5% to an average of 1.226 euros. According to Premier Marbella news sources the number of housing projects in the province of Malaga in the second quarter of 2015 has significantly increased compared to the first three months of this year, with 270 approved building projects. Furthermore, compared to the same period of 2014 it has increased by 314 percent, from 146 to 605 in April, May and June this year. Marbella is the motor driving the rise in new building projects.
